The writeup on the watch:

Durability and precision are the essence of Suunto Ambit. Advanced features suit both on and off-season activities for the hardcore explorer. The Suunto Ambit (HR) package includes Suunto Ambit, Suunto ANT Heart Rate Belt, USB Power cable, and Quick Guide.

Suunto Ambit
The Ambit can be used with the optional heart rate belt. The screen can be switched from light to dark background for optimal visibility.

You could call it a watch, but that hardly seems fair.
Altitude, location, speed, heart rate, weather conditions – it’s all at your fingertips. And with the latest software, you can upgrade your watch to inspire your next adventure. The new Suunto Ambit - conquering new territory with the world’s first full-featured GPS for Explorers.
Upgradability
Settings and other information can be transferred to and from Suunto Ambit to Movescount.com In addition, Suunto Ambit software can be upgraded through Movescount so you can get all the latest features and performance enhancements.

Suunto Apps
With Suunto Apps, you can add new, unique features to your Suunto Ambit. Visit Suunto App Zone in Movescount to download Apps, or create your own with Suunto App Designer.

Peak Training Effect
To better reflect the meaning of the Training Effect measurement (TE), Suunto has renamed the measurement to Peak Training Effect (PTE). PTE indicates the impact of a training session on your maximum aerobic performance and is most accurate with medium and high intensity training. The measurement is relative to your current fitness level. The fitter you are, the harder you have to work to reach a higher PTE.

Recovery Time
Recovery Time is an estimate of how long your body needs to recuperate after training. The time is based on the duration and intensity of the session, as well as the overall fatigue, accumulating even at lower intensities. Recovery Time accumulates from one session to the next if you train again before the time has expired.

FusedSpeed - Advanced Training functions:

Track logging and analysis in Movescount.com

*with optional Suunto ANT Comfort Belt

3D Compass
With a conventional compass, you need to hold the compass level to the horizon to get an accurate reading. Suunto’s 3D compasses compensate for tilt, allowing you to get a reading regardless of the angle of your wrist.

Integrated GPS
The integrated GPS used in watches such as Suunto Ambit is based on the SiRFstarIV technology. The receiver has a very high sensitivity. This helps Ambit to find GPS satellites much quicker

Garmin's Description
Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Sportswatch without HR Monitor
Garmin Forerunner 910XT is the revolutionary GPS sportswatch that is as good in the water as it is on the land. Use it while running, cycling and swimming – it’s the world's most complete training watch. Forerunner 910XT is a GPS-enabled device that provides detailed swim metrics and tracks distance, pace, and elevation for running and cycling. It sports a sleek profile, comfy wristband and an easy-to-read display.

Analyse every stroke, pedal and step with the Garmin Forerunner 910XT.

Dive In
Designed for open water and pool swimming, Forerunner 910XT is water resistant to 50 m (164 ft) ¹. It offers extensive swim metrics, including swim distance, stroke identification, stroke count and pool lengths. It also computes your swolf score to help you gauge your swimming efficiency. (Swolf is a combination of the words ‘swim’ and ‘golf’ and it is a way of calculating a swimmer’s efficiency. To find your Swolf score your length time is added to the number of strokes you have taken. Eg. if it takes you 20 seconds to swim a length and you took 15 strokes your score would be 35.) The 910XT’s robust design and easy operation make it suited for other water sports, including paddle boarding.
In open water, because it’s GPS-enabled, Forerunner 910XT even captures the path you travelled so you can view it later on a map Garmin’s free online community, Garmin Connect™ at http://connect.garmin.com/ This feature can help you analyse your open water swimming and adjust your technique as needed.

You can use the Forerunner 910XT when running, swimming, or cycling.
Transition Seamlessly
Whether you’re training or racing, every second counts, so the 910XT makes it easy and seamless to transition between sports. The auto multisport feature lets you switch sport modes with just 1 button press, so you don’t lose precious seconds in transition. The optional quick release mount allows you to move the 910XT easily from wrist to bike.
Try it Dry
On land, Forerunner 910XT offers many of the features of Garmin’s advanced cycling computers and sportswatches to accurately capture your time, distance, speed or pace and more. The 910XT is our first multisport device to incorporate a barometric altimeter for highly accurate elevation data, including ascent, descent and gradient. Configurable data fields let you customise multiple training pages for each sport. Set up vibration alerts to give a silent nudge when you hit a split, when it’s time to take nutrition or if you need a little feedback to stay within range of your goals. With these high-level features and up to 20 hours of battery life, the 910XT is ideal for athletes training for ultras or iron distance tris.
Take it to the Next Level
For advanced training, the 910XT is compatible with ANT+™ sensors, including the optional speed/cadence sensor for cycling or a premium heart rate monitor that comes with the heart rate version of the sportswatch. For those data-driven athletes, the 910XT also is compatible with ANT+ power me

- Easily share tracks, waypoints, routes and paperless geocaches wirelessly with other compatible Garmin GPS devices and smartphones. fēnix is equipped with both ANT™ capabilities and Bluetooth® technology.

Due to my knee failing to keep up with my training schedule, I have my entry into the 24hour Elite category for RatRace's The Wall Run up for sale, along with hotel rooms in both Carlisle (for Friday night) and Newcastle/Gateshead (for Saturday night).

This is a 69 mile ultra marathon split between roads, trails and footpaths along the route of Hadrian's Wall on Saturday June the 22nd so if you are fit, have two working knees and fancy a challenge, please let me know.

My Entry cost £150 ladt year and I am happy to transfer it for that or a near offer. The holes were roughly the same, but I'm happy to take £100 for those. I made a point of booking into a Travelodge about 400m from the finish, so you will not have too far to walk after the race.

Please let me know if you fancy this as a challenge.
