Entry form says a mix of terrain, but the photos i've seen all show road or canal towpath.

Do you need some grip (Inov-8 X-Talon's), or will racing flats do the job?

I am organising Road, trail and eventually fell races !!! I am trying to do things a little differently and organisation and fast, accurate results are my forte

My first race is a Hill time trial in Todmorden - very easy to get too by motorway from lakes, preston, blackburn etc !!!

Yes this is on the road but trust me its a hill challenge in every sense of the word - don't dismiss it its god training and there are loads of fell runners from clubs local to me doing it !!! CVFR, Todmorden Harriers, Rossendale !! Stacks of prizes !!

I'd been told about the main hill in this race before, but was still gob-smacked on ascending it (I'll admit I walked quite a bit of it)

It's called Trooper Lane, & according to the route description, it ascends nigh on 570 feet in half-a-mile:eek:

The missus wants a challenge to aim for, we live just up the road in Elgin and know the area well so this seems like a good event for her to have a crack at - generally downhill, 7 or so miles off road, around Loch Morlich and Rothiemurchus, and the last 6 on road (running alongside the 10k route).

She's just getting in to running, coming from a (sometime) cycling background so has relatively good fitness and is running about 4-5 miles a day, 2-3 days a week, and cycling 16-17 miles a day, 3-4 days a week, at the moment so has a reasonable platform to start training from.
