The unofficial leaderboard has now gone official, & is posted to the Runfurther website. I will continue to maintain it, and the vet points will continue to be a fudge, until I can get all you guys on the leaderboard to provide me (on behalf of Runfurther) with your dates of birth. We could also do with your email addresses in case we need to contact you at any point. Both will be treated confidentially, not passed outside Runfurther, and used only for purposes relating to maintenance of the leaderboard & contacting you if we need to. We won't be junkmailing you!

If you're intending to take part in the Runfurther Ultra series this year & have registered already (last year or this), please email me your date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy format makes it easier for me to copy & paste), from your normal email address to andy "at" crewood.net. If you've not registered at all, you can do so on the Runfurther website. No date of birth means wrong vet points or no vet points, either now or as you get older!

I know its a long shot given how far it is from the home turf of most forumites and also given that there appears to have been between 20 & 25 runners taking part in past years but I'll ask anyway - anyone done this one before?

If so any hints/tips etc....?

In the absence of a Leaderboard on the Runfurther Ultra website I've put together an unofficial Leaderboard to tide us over until whatever's going on at Runfurther is resolved. It's entirely unofficial, although I've tried to conform to the scoring rules. Everyone who competed is included: I've no idea who's registered with Runfurther. The published results for the Calderdale Hike and the Fellsman don't include age category info, so I've had to use the age category from your previous race, i.e. the Hardmoors 55 if you did it, or the Haworth Hobble if you didn't. If you did neither you get no vet points for Calderdale or the Fellsman as I've no way of knowing your category - pm me with the info & I'll update the spreadsheet & give you the points.

Here's the latest version, in an Excel spreadsheet (without the gory workings).

There's bound to be mistakes in it: let me know when you think you spot any.

Two of us from Penrith are planning to have a crack at the CRR over the weekend of Friday June 14th - Sunday 15th. Both completed BGR & PBR, and training is going well, so hope to give the Scottish round a good go. Availability for support seems more complex given other commitments people already have, the distance to get there and remoteness (which is all part of the adventure!) but if any would like to join us and be part of this attempt it would be great to hear from you.

We can offer return transport from Cumbria to Fort W if that helps and the statutory Penrith Toffee & Cumbrian Ale of course!

Always happy to try and return the favours on BGR attempts too!

Thanks for considering.

My name is Fredrik Mandt and I live in Norway.

We are planning a new different race in Norway. The background of the crew organizing this race goes back to the early start of Norseman Xtreme Triathlon. But this time the concept exclude swim and bike and only focus on the run.

The course starts from Dyranut in Eidfjord and then you will have to cross the mountain plateau Hardangervidda. The race ends at Gaustatoppen and the total distance is 150 km. Both individual participants and teams consisting of 2 participants can apply for the race. This year a limitation of 50 participants is set. Norwegians are always a bit slow when it comes down to new concepts and we beleive overseas participants first will regognize how fun this experience will be, after some time the norwegians will understand that they miss a great oppurtunity of fun. The race will start from Dyranut Friday July 12th 12:00.

The race is not yet offically launched, but if you think this race looks fun, please send an email to fredrikmandt@gmail.com, you will then get the link to our website and the possibility for sending in an application.

After a few name changes, The Steam Bunny 2013 Challenge seems to have settled on this. It's suitably cryptic and I should leave it to the Clerk of the Course/Chef de Mission Toffer to spill the beans on the frighteningly awful prospect that awaits us!
Safe to say, it involves many mountains, an ENTIRE country, takes 6 days and includes lots of ........ Cycling!
Coming up VERY soon.

So since the MDS has been a recent topic in the ultra running world, my friend and I are setting our own challenge, the marathon des dales. Taking place over the soon May Bank Holiday my friend and I plan to run the Dales Way from Windermere, going lightweight and camping along the way. We'll probably finish in Ilkley and get the train back to Leeds.

I've walked it before and it's a decent trail, not very hilly.

It's two of us at the moment so it would be great to have a small group - I've never run long days back to back so we're not planning on setting any speed records and it's more of an adventure/social/training for the Lakeland 50 than a race. More of a walk/jog than a sprint, with plenty of stops for cake.....

Think LDWA style kind of trip and would probably be good for those training for the BGR?

PM me for more details
