No. That's the attraction of a Naylor when your internal clock seems a lot different to everybody elses.
Yes.
For 40+ there's a time limit of 24hrs.
For 50+ there's a time limit of 24hrs.
For 60+ there's a time limit of 24hrs
For 70+ there's a time limit of 24hrs and the chance to be first to do it.;)
Made me giggle too!
Seriously though, what are the fastest known times of 40+, 50+ and 60+ ?
Don't really know why I'm asking - I'm 50 next year and probably the best I could hope for is a 50 at 50 - fifty (very small!) peaks in 50 hours :-)
I don't know TBH. On the current electronic ratification form I simply ask for age on that day but on the paper forms that were used before it asked for date of birth so we'd have to do the date calculations on all 1500 or so of those.
One of our tasks is digitising the paper records so that we can get all this info into electronic form and the data for each round into a database so that these sorts of questions are just a simple database query.
For those of us who are around Stumpy's age it would be very interesting to know how much this kind of age (end of 40s, 50s etc) would make you an outlier in terms of people making it round, or whether a good proportion of successful contenders are in that bracket. Apologies Bob if this is apparent from your site but I couldn't spot it. Clearly the 50 at 50, 60 at 60 etc shows all things are possible for some people, but it would be interesting to know the tail off in terms of numbers/proportions.
The BG site has a summary each year: success ratios; male/female numbers and the like. I list the youngest, oldest and average ages. I could (if I can work out the SQL to do it) get age ranges and successes. Some simple queries over the data in the database give:
Under 30: 34
30-39: 98
40-49: 101
50+: 27
These are for the last three years. Since I only ask for age once someone has succeeded I can't give you proportions per age group.
A bit of messing around and I have this graph of the above data but by age.

Thanks Bob, that's very helpful. And quite inspiring to see the healthy distribution of the post-47s getting around.
A bit of well earned middle-age chuggability isn’t a bad thing for BG’ing
