Re: Cuillin ridge record broke
Amazing!! Very well done, one of the real classics of mountain running!!
Re: Cuillin ridge record broke
Wow what a run, congratulations on the time. One I hope to get finished one day after 2 attempts but nothing like that run
Re: Cuillin ridge record broke
Done all the tops but never the full ridge! It'd kind of slipped to the back of my mind. Then I looked at 'Skippy's' blog.....I think its back on the agenda!! I'll need to be guided mind, none of this solo, racy stuff!!

Am I missing something? The record run was years ago. Unless Sarah's broken the ladies record...

No.. and I don't think there is a ladies record.. certainly nothing resembling the history of the blokes. Her aim is just to set a fast time and there is no chance at the moment.

yes - Iain is correct - sorry should have started new thread? I was just highlighting the current record by Es set in 2007 and asking for some beta on the route as there doesn't seem to be any accurate data on total ascent from the start to finish along the ridge (i.e. not including the ascent to get to the start).
Had a great week up there reccying it last week despite pretty grim weather!!!! managed to get up on the ridge 4 times but couldn't do alot and certainly no climbing (literally had to hold onto the inn pinn in super strong winds and it was soaking!) but at least I'm getting some familiarity with the area and the ridge and the rock/terrain underfoot. Pity I couldn't do the climbs as that is my biggest hurdle - I have no idea if I can do the climb sections solo and need to figure it all out - climb with ropes first and see how I feel.
Definitely have alot of respect for the project but really its just a great excuse to get up there whatever the weather - its such an amazing place! If I can work on it over time and finally set a fast time I'll be super happy - but as corny as it sounds the journey is going to be pretty damn satisfying on the way :-)
If anyone is interested I'll be posting all the work on it on the blog under tag Cuillin Ridge http://sarzmountainrun.blogspot.co.u...uillin%20Ridge
Re: Cuillin ridge record broke
Certainly is a great project Skippy!! Id love to have the climbing ability to even consider soloing it or even the basic skills to complete as part of a small team in a oner!! Good luck with it, and I'll definitely be taking an interest! My first trip up there was one of my best days on a hill....very scary for a novice in those conditions. I foolowed some guys over to An Stuc and they just disappeared leaving me looking at a vertical cliff to get down. Needless to say I back tracked!! Great day out!! :o Good luck, and keep us posted!!

Sarah most of the climbs can be bypassed but is that doing the Ridge? I don't know. but the TDG can be bypassed by dropping down to the Coire on the left Ghrunnda? and climbing up the ridge on the other side of Alisdair.
Personally I'd do the gap but might be worth having some one there. Not sure what Es did?
Re: Cuillin ridge record broke
I thought that Andy Hyslop had looked at previous records and decided that the record should be for all the summits and you shouldn't avoid either the TD gap or Am Basteir. I'm pretty sure this is what all subsequent attempts on the record have done.
