It's a cracking route, much tougher than the Hobble I think.
To answer your questions, there is a couple of miles on the road at the end, much of it downhill. The CP at Lumbutts is in the Chapel grounds (if you get to Lumbutts you can't really miss it!).

Aye Duff - more paths and trod less hard surfaces - I seem to remember big route choice options though some runners opted to take the main road at times (I took scenic routes and lost time)

Have only done the last couple - last year went round with Nick and had a good chinwag all the way - learnt lots!

Remember you from the Hobble Mike, at least i remember the t-shirt, what's the SAS bit, Saturdays and Sundays?
I'll be there this year, Calderdale Hike virgin.

Mike, Calderdale is always testing and The Hike pushes it to the max. Let's hope for good weather for the third year in a row. I'll see you there. Your medical condition is a bit of a conundrum though. I hope you're seeing a professional. Irritable Bowel Syndrome knee sounds rather messy, not to mention a plumbing nightmare. :wink: I guess you meant ITB. :D

Hi Steve, The T-Shirt bit was a bit of a grin at Christmas. My club - Tickhill Running & Athletic Club is predominantly a road running club. I only joined t`other year and after a couple O`
10Ks decided to bugger off up a hill .... and I've never come back down. Consequently I'm viewed strangely when the normal long run is circa 15 - 20 miles yet they see me disappearing into the gloaming on a 30 miler of any given Sunday as all the stuff I now get involved in is the long hilly affairs and I need to get 4 - 5 hours on my feet as every forumite here with as little ability as I will testify. Finishing is my aim, taking a few pics along the way .... getting involved with the front runners is beyond my wildest hopes ....... anyway, just noticed that I ought to have done the Hardmoor race - even on bad knees, weighing 14 stone 3 pounds then it seems I missed a golden opportunity to have won summats

LOL ... always was bad at spoking proper England ... eck eck ... however yep, I'm off to physio tonight prior to the plumber. Knee as squashy as a milkmans hat. Can't even trot or bend it and thats plenty of time after the wuthering hike. I recall you did exceptionally well last year coming off an injury. Hopefully I'll make the start and say hello!. Thanks for that and good to see a success last Saturday

Silly question now, but my home PC aint working and this work one, for some reason, is blocking the official calderdale hike site, sooo...
are there still places left, and who do I make a cheque or Postal Order out to? And am I right in thinking it's thirteen quid?
