Re: Ultra Trail Tramuntana.
Thanks again Morgan, I'll probably stick with my Saucony Jazz Trail that I've used in similar terrain and for long flat slogs (Thames Path 100), they seem to suit my feet and can handle most terrain.
Good to know there is enough light around to see on the inital stages, the hand torch came in handy on the TP100 but that had a long stretches without seeing anyone else...
Where did you stay ? Previously in Mallorca I've been at the Club Pollensa which is great but a little out of town, I'm toying with the idea of staying at the official race hotel (Pollensa Park) - my other half wants somewhere with a good pool for racking up some swim miles whilst I'm out on the trail and the Pollensa Park has a 33m pool.

I stayed at the Pollensa Park. 3 star. Great room rate from the race. Bit old-fashioned and breakfast is a bit mad.
Hotel tends to be full of cycling groups at that time of year. Think of rather overweight gents of various nationalities squeezed into too little lycra! Can get very busy at breakfast.
Plenty of good hotels in Puerto Pollensa and many places to eat.
The pool was a little on the chilly side but great after the race for easing tired legs.

Just spotted this on their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TrailsMallorca, looks like my credit card is going to take some damage...
