Re: forumites fav races of 200
My favourite is the Gravy Pud in tintwistle, as it is the only fell race i have done so far.
In 2009, i am going to try and do atleast 6 fell races, although i finished a lot closer to the back than the front at the gravy pud, i enjoyed every hard 64mins of it. i've never felt so satisfied as i did when i crossed the line to the applause i recieved,
It was a wonderful race and i'll be back next year to get in under an hour.

1. Jura - because its not just the race (good as it is) its the whole cycling and camping thing.
2. Langdale - because it has everything a proper lakeland fell race should have, different terrain, climbs, descents, traverses, route choices, nav difficulties etc but isn't too long
3. 3 Shires - because if you can get there the race is on! (plus like Langdale without the route choice)

Overall I'd say that it was the Fairfield Horseshoe down to a combination of the beautiful (and oddly weird) blue horizon as viewed soon after the turn at the top and of course the non-stop 4 mile descent where, after a while, I just couldn't stop laughing and smiling to myself almost all the way down. Fabulous.
I also enjoyed the Anniversary Waltz, despite the freezing wind chill on the tops. Probably the most post race satisfaction was from doing 4:22 in the 3P (which I'm sure I could now shave to nearer 4:10) and for getting round the Tour of Pendle this year and feeling relatively okay at the end :D

Auld Lang Syne may be mine yet...you never know.
Re: forumites fav races of 200
Several of my most pleasurable (usually in retrospect) races have already had a mention, so I'll add Pen-Y-Ghent to the list. Great atmosphere, great scenery, great descent, and I do like coming down the best!
Re: forumites fav races of 200
Loved Cardington Cracker this year - even with a chest infection. Superb weather, scenery and a well conceived course.
Oh, and the soup afterwards. Edale also a belter and Roaches would have been if it weren't for the slurry.
Re: forumites fav races of 200
I agree with Stolly about the descent off Fairfield :D
and Snowdon was "an experience"
but the one that stands out in my mind is Macclesfield Forest - a perfectly formed short horseshoe course mainly in forest (duh!), and a glorious summer evening for it  :)
Re: forumites fav races of 200
Really enjoyed Rombalds Stride in the snow then Mallerstang Yomp too.
Re: forumites fav races of 200
Fav has to be Ben Nevis, Great Race, Great Weekend, Great Saturday night.
Close second has to be Buckden, that final descent to the river and the leap over the wall to the finish line is something to cherish !!!
