10/11 May - Additional Pacers
Hi all
I'm doing my round on 10th May starting 1900 on a 22hr schedule. I have had some last minute drop outs and I'm left with one support runner for each of legs 1-4 and 2 for L5, and ideally would have some more support.
I'd really appreciate it if some of you lads & lasses could help out.
If you want to get in touch then andy(at)brook-dobson.com
Thanks in advance.

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Andy my BGR is approaching too (21 June) and 11 May I was planning to do a double recce of legs 3 and 4. I just need to check a couple of things (domestics essentially!) then will confirm. I will be travelling from Northants after work on the Friday so leg 1 and probably also 2 are out, legs 3 and 4 might fit well tho. On the schedule you're aiming at (and assuming clockwise?!) you should be at Dunmail around 3am - Chris

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Hi Chris
Thanks for the interest and I look forward to hearing from you. Legs 3/4 would be fab. I can arrange for the logistics to get you back from Honister to Dunmail.
You're spot on - should be at Dunmail 0300
My full schedule can be seen here.

Hi Andy
as I wrote yesterday, I'll be with you but I don't know at the moment for which leg(s).
see you, d.

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Hi Didier
Great, I look forward to hearing from you re which legs suit you.
My next priority is to beef up the support on Leg2 (which will be in the dark), assuming Chris is ok for Leg 3, then Leg 1.

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
So, I've got offers from Knightrunner to do Legs 3 & 4, leaving me with Leg 2 with only 1 support runner. Given that this will be through the night, I'm really keen to get at least one other support in place; pretty please to all you kindly folk. Ta Andy

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Hi Andy
Dave Sargent from Penrith here.
I can probably help out on Leg 1 on Friday night if that's any use. I was down to assist with another but I am pretty sure he has cancelled.
Happy carrying and OK on the navigation for Leg 1. If you are really stuck for Leg 2 I could do that instead, but less confident of the nav. if the clag is down.
phone 01768 863000 or pm me.
Dave

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Final shout for anyone who fancies a nice little jog out in support on leg 2 tomorrow night - about 2230 from Threlkeld. It will be lovely and much appreciated.
Thanks to knightrunner, Didier and Dave, I've got plenty of support on all the other legs, and although I've an extra pacer for L2 (making 2 support) its a bit thin on experience.

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Looks like Andy is on his way from Gt Calva to Blencathra. Good luck and keep on moving
-
Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Good luck Andy, hope you have some spare batteries because the tracking is BRILL.
-
Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Which way's he going to come off Blencathra then? No sign of Yiannis, so presumably not the Parachute in the dark...

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Hall's Fell path. It's good this isn't it? Just like doing the BG yourself, but with popcorn.
-
Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Looks like he's left Threlkeld and is heading now towards Newsham

Assuming trace is representative of where they've been / are going my initial thought was they're either lost or packing and heading East to get off the hill. It looks now like they've been going round in circles for several minutes but have now starting heading back to Great Dodd, where they'll be something like 10 minutes down on a 23 hour schedule
I'm heading on a bearing of 'upstairs' on the wooden fell. Goodnight Pat!

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
playing around here trying to write an app for android, but off to bed now. They seem to be back on track now after that hiccup, good luck to them.

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
seat sandal 4.30 , 6hr ish to do leg 2
-
Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
This is terrific. Looks like High Raise now. Interested to see the line around Grisedale Tarn. They went the outflow side but then took the track up from the Seat Sandal side rather than the Cofa Pike route. I've never done that 'hybrid' option. Wonder if it was intentional and if so, if it worked?
Also noticed the Raise Beck option in descending Seat Sandal. I've always thought that was slow and awkward but it's a very unambiguous line and more sheltered. Fascinating to see such variations.
High Raise next! :) Good luck out there :D

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Leg 3 seems to have been more straightforward. About 3 o'clock Honister? 4 hours to finish? Might catch end of the cup final!!? Weathers not getting any better though, 'sunny and showers' later. Good luck Andy et al!!

I see he went the full 3 ups and 2 downs of lords rake. Interesting to know how much snow there was.

Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
Is my maths wrong or is he a long way off schedule? Bob's 23 hr schedule has Red PIke at about 16.5 hrs. if the plot is pretty much "real time" he is there now at about 19.5 hrs.
MWIS is not giving very nice conditions up there.
-
Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
pat you can do last leg in 2.40 if not quicker if your really moving well so there will be no break at honister
it looked as if he had problem with yewbarrow
-
Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
I noticed that the trace was "stuck" halfway up Yewbarrow for a good while - maybe 45mins. Currently back off Steeple at 19:45hrs.
-
Re: 10/11 May - Additional Pac
After a surprisingly cloudless Leg 1 and what looked like a star-lit Leg 2 (at least to start) the weater's been pretty foul all day up here, but is much improved now (3:30 p.m.). Come on Andy!

I think the delays in map updating are all to do with inadequate mobile coverage.
I hope the lad is finding some enjoyment. It isn't easy when you know time is precious.
