Are there any forumites doing this on Saturday? looks like a good and pretty rough course.
I'll be running, not least to be overtaken by a couple of hundred runners... I've not seen the course but of heard its the opposite side of Wollaton Hall to the North Mids XC league race back in January.
I will be bagpersonning and cheer leading for my club. Feel free to come and ask for me to say hello at the Barnet & District AC banner. Always good to talk fells!
It's both sides of Wollaton Hall! Held the Midlands on something resembling it a few years back. I'll be there supporting. Course map below,

I'll be there in a supportive capacity too.
Thanks for posting the course map.
I'll be there, running or attempting to. Hoping this throat infection/tonsillitis thing clears itself up.
I'll be there. Team manager, head Coach and sweeper for the Senior mens race :D
To be honest I'm gutted it's not the old Inters course having watched it for quite a few years and wanting to run, just not being good enough :(

I'm there in my away-day colours (White with 2 black/1 red band)
Just demolished a pack of Fig Rolls, advance apologies to those behind me...
What a great race that was! Enjoyed the course from start to finish. How did those of you who entered get on?

Well I didn't quite complete 1 lap. My calf has been fine since I started running again 9 days ago but leaping that muddy ditch 3/4 of the way around lap 1 got it again and I carried on for a couple of minutes to see if I could run it off and decided to live to fight another day.
It was a great course, well set up.
I have to say that having been to a number of Inters and an English Schools there, Wollaton Park has to be the best Cross Country venue in the country.
For a venue to be able to boast 2 top notch Championship Courses on different sections of the park is incredible. I hope to go back again and complete :)
What a great event, Well done to Notts AC for hosting and the City Council. Loved it. Hope it returns there in a few years time.
Never ran with hurdles too!
London next year followed by Knowsley! Apparently the owner of the safari park is very keen to host.
Thanks.
Managed 90 minutes off-road on the bike today.
My "comeback" had all been road or the canal towpath in road shoes.
yesterday I spent all day in my La Sportiva Cross Country whilst watching and then I thought they'd be Ok to race in.
I think their low heel profile perhaps just put a bit more load on my calf and Achilles and so I think I'll just have to stick to road shoes for the time being. Hopefully be back running Tuesday or Wednesday.
I ran. I think it was the best course I've ever done and I've run hundreds of cross countries in my 20 years of running. Some real nice variety on it. Shame I wasn't really fit for it. Only started really trying on the last lap.
poor run but great day out, great to be part of the spectacle that is the start of the men's race! Not enough mud for my liking but got that last year and at the Midlands a month back!
Wow. Compliments indeed from Richard and tthers on here. As I said earlier it was a bit experimental but was a corker and what a wonderful day. I will pass these remarks on to Mick Robinson and the rest of the Notts organisers. They will be so pleased that it went down so well. Wolly is a great place to run and although we don't have the fells I never get bored of a run out in the park.
I spoke to Mick briefly as the senior men's race was finishing and he quite rightly seemed pleased with how it had all gone. There aren't many venues available for an event of that size, but Wollaton has consistently come up trumps for Inter-Counties, Midlands and now National champs.
If anybody from Trafford AC is reading, the amount of litter you left behind when you cleared off was disgraceful.
Anyone here entered for the Nationals at Parliament Hill this year? Despite some decent training and good gains in speed since Wollaton last year, I am under no illusion that I'll make it out of the bottom half of the field...
Great event that! was hoping to do it but x-c has fallen off since Christmas due to various other considerations. Pity really. Also I was working the day of it so that made a further complication. One day I'll get back to a full X-c season! Good luck Sam W
What a cracking day out! Anyone else on here go along? Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, really bunched field where I was - felt like losing or gaining a significant number of places was pretty likely, depending on tactics.
Pleasingly, broke into top 1000 by a good margin at 815th - almost 300 places better than last year. Coincidentally, I was about 20 seconds slower than at Wollaton last year, but given that the winning time was around 3 minutes slower & Parliament Hill is pretty undulating, I'm chuffed with that. :)
Men's under 17s race seemed a corker - winner pulled away by a big margin in last third of the race & second & third place seemed to finish a dead heat. If you went, hope you had a good un to!
Anyone going to Leicester? Any knowledge of the course?
I'm not going (even though I live only 10 miles away). Donington Park is on the escarpment above the Trent, so they could have a seriously undulating course if they wanted to. But I couldn't find any information about the course on the website.
Oh, and Donington Park is a long way (well, 20 miles) from Leicester. Swim across the Trent from the Park, and you're in Derbyshire.
I was told today that the course will only be published in the programme, thus forcing people to buy it. I hope we get a goody bag with a completes medal with it! ;)
I'll be there, looking forward to it after missing out last year and hoping (as ever) for tough conditions. Hoping for a good team result, especially in the 9-man as I might sneak in that!
Out of interest Nic ..how do you rate/compare this to a fell race ....I know for me personally I love a bit of Cross the Northerns were epic again this year and will stay in the memory of all who took part for some time but will be reet happy to get back ont Fells ....National though .,how many ont start line ?
Good luck to all having a run ,it will be a big day out .
I don't agree with that. They did that at the Northerns (the same team) and I know we as a club always used to pin the course maps up in the tent.
It's such a busy day, you just want to get there, have a look at the course and run. Having to make a special bee-line for programme and pay £3 for a map is cheeky.
If they want to attract more programme sales, get a few articles in from previous winners and make it a good read.
Its back with us (Notts Ac) next year at Wollaton. Two years ago it was a good course, quite rough in parts and I think we did a good job in organising it? The irony this year is that its a 'Northern' venue but actually further south By about 10 miles, than next year when it reverts to The Midlands. I am sure though that course maps will be displayed on the day?
