Balancing speed and control
During descents in particular i've always favoured speed and left control to chance to a greater degree, and i'm beginning to consider whether my propensity for this habit might be leading me down a dark alley. Most of the time i have limited control of my legs and ankles and my breathing is so fast my mind is screaming at me to back off, i've also been aware that i don't lift my legs sufficiently and tend to trip over small rocks and tussocks. I'd love to know if anyone thinks this is normal as i get such a buzz off it at the end i just go back for more every time .

I'd say carry on, if you're going fast and keeping on your feet then you can't be doing much(if anything) wrong.
Re: Balancing speed and contro
It's cirtainly faster my way but more risky. I just wondered what others tend to do.
Re: Balancing speed and contro

Well put! :D
Re: Balancing speed and contro
I think it very much depends on the race: a four-mile up-and-down you can go hell-for-leather, but if you punish your legs and ankles like that in the early stages of a Lakeland Classic then you'll be regretting it later on.
Re: Balancing speed and contro
Balancing speed and control is not a problem for me as I possess neither, and I still manage to fall over more than most.
