....ok in theory, but where does one purchase ice in sufficient quantities?
I have a spring in my garden that is fed from high up ont fells, I often stand in it up to my knees but can't last more than about 3minutes as it FREEZING:eek: even in a heatwave in summer.
I arrived back in Horton last Friday after 20 plus miles over Inglebugger and Whernside a bit stiff in various places, particularly both calves.
A 5 minute sit down in the Ribble was as much as I could handle, but it sorted me out a treat, no stiffness at all after that short immersion.
Could have murdered a beer tho'.
Had to make do with a pint of tea and hot buttered crumpets about 10 minutes later. :D
Lying in the river at Seathwaite after Duddon last year, still pretty cold in May, was just beautiful ... wasn't enough to mend me though, I was still walking round like Deputy Dawg next day.
I remember doing a duathlon somewhere near Kaprun in Austria back in my fit days. The race finished in a village that had a fountain in a park. The water in the fountain was straight off the glacier and was in the middle of a wide bowl that was paved like a spiral. The paving started really smooth and got progressively lumpier as you got towards the middle. The idea was that you started from the outside and slowly spiralled inwards walking towards the fountain, then reversed the journey back to the outside. A combination of foot massage and ice-bath:cool:
Evidently this was how the villagers kept healthy legs even into old age. As a post-race therapy it was the best ever:)
Guinness and Strongbow are drugs??????
Oh sh!t i'm an addict, time for an ice bath:eek:
