Re: ....After fellrunning
I think it'll be birdwatching & helping out at the running club for me, once my knees are no use for hillwalking or cycling. My dad's knees went in his mid-70s, & so did his dad's, both without the fellrunning to make it worse. That's as in feathered birds. Don't forget the testosterone will be running out too!

Noo.. legs will have gone... I'll stick to the critic... that suggests a level of intelligence... but in North Wales it seems being on a committee post running career is a natural career path so maybe I'll step that way...

If I have one regret in life it's that I've never been involved with live music. I can't play any instruments but I do fancy a bit of singing when my knees are shot :closed:

I thought there is evidence that increased blood flow from running can actually help re-build cartilage and such like.. or is that me just grasping at straws in some vague hope I won't be a cripple by 33...

I will be hanging about in the post race pubs cadging pints and boring everyone who will listen with my greatly exaggerated fell running adventures of yore.

There is no direct evidence that running predisposes to developing OA (at any rate greater than the general population) that I am aware of at the moment, and my boss (a Rheumatologist) is firmly in the camp of "use it or lose it" - i.e. by exercising and using the cartilage, you actually help self-regulate the natural repair and regenerative properties. There is some evidence that this seems to be the case. Certainly, non-active people seem to be at a higher risk of developing OA because of this.
Of course, I encourage you to go and look at the literature, as I could be wrong!

It's never too late to learn an instrument or join a band DT. I've played guitar since I was eleven but shamefully I've hardly picked an axe up since my band got dropped a few years ago.....I'm starting to miss it quite a lot now.
Re: ....After fellrunning
I'd probably go back to the LDWA events if I can still walk and shuffle a bit.
DD, where do axes come into guitar playing? Were you in a punk band? ;)
