Not planning an attempt but I do want to try and get some reccies in this year.
I believe two of my clubmates are planning to have an attempt together. not sure whether it is entirely appropriate in light of your tantalizing words of inducement, or are they words of caution? if you can survive 24 hours of physical and mental torture together you'll at least know what to expect from marriage, right?
There's a guy from Clayton (no name - no pressure!) having a crack at it this year.
We go round anticlockwise so we've been out reccying for the last couple of months. Still more reccying to do, and lots to plan.
So far it's been very enjoyable..........apart from the 5am alarm calls on Saturday mornings.
Sign me up! (For the BGR and helping people with attempts, Not for marriage!)
Definately up for reccying / supporting on the round. A couple of my club mates wouldbe up for it too.
Planning an attempt 13/14 May...have a great couple of guys on road support but less volunteers for running! Looking to get a couple more recce trips in, probably April/Easter, would love to support others too!
Im planning on going 9th/10th June. Clockwise with a 2100 start. Next recce is the 1st and 2nd March, Leg 1 on the 1st, Leg 4 from Honister via Moses Trod on the 2nd
I'm definately around at Easter (I've got 3 weeks off from 31st March) and I'm also available for 13/14 May. My navigation is terrible but I'm a willing pack horse. Let me know where and when.
Phil, unfortunately im working the weekend of the 13/14 May, so can't make it for your attempt. I have a few dates planned either side of Easter and into May. Will keep posting dates of recces
No worries but thanks anyway! Am going to head up at Easter and recce as much as poss again, so if anyone's around and fancies a trot out, let me know...
im setting off 11th may 9pm. if the weathers ok!
I'm having an attempt at the end of July. Also doing a recce of legs 1+2, then 3+4 on the last/first weekend of March/April. Travelling up from South Wales if anyone interested.
Hi everyone!
One year dreaming of an attemp and everything ready for this week. Three fellows and me (first Spanish BGR attemp as far I know before Kilian attemp unchains madness about BGR in our country). We can choose the best of the days, between 7th and 9th April, just depending upon weather. If weather is ok we will try our luck 7th April, Clockwise with an 1900 or 2000 start.
It is our first time in the Lakes. No first hand knowledge of the terrain. So, we do not fancy with a superb performance. It will be ok if anyone out of our team manage to arrive in time back to Keswick
Best regards
Julian
Thanks you very much!
that´s right, we`ll try to enjoy whatever the result. We trained so hard and came with a huge amount of miles in our legs. But we know that our absolutely ignorance of what we are going to find out there is a serious drawback.
Hi Julian,
I'm the one your registration emails come to - from your names I wasn't sure if you were Spanish or Portuguese:rolleyes: As far as I know there have been no Spanish attempts on the Bob Graham. There have been very few attempts from outside Britain or Ireland so there's not many names to check.
Good luck
Hello Julian from two BGR'ers currently on holiday in Majorca. Very best of luck. Chees, A & S
Thanks you very much Bob!
Buena suerte Julian
It was nice to bump into the Spanish guys ar Ashness Bridge today. They all had a successful round but reported that it was tougher than they had imagined, especially the marshy sections. They raved about the round and mere thrilled to have done it. No recycling, some less than optimum lines and a great adventurous approach. V,Rey well done chaps. Please come back for a Paddy and a Ramsey.
Hello everybody!
Happy to told you that our BGR attemp was succesful. Corniceman, was great to see you at Ashness Bridge! In fact, it was very much harder than we expected. Only 1 minute to spare for one of my fellows...
We come back to our country with the eyes plenty of the beauty of the Lakeland, with a Ramsay Round in mind, and probably a second attemp to BGR with a french fellow that couldn't come with us this time.
Thanks you very much!
Best regards
Well done Julian, Pablo and Vincenti, you are the first Spanish club members;) Remember to get your ratification forms sent in!
Im heading up on Tuesday morning (16th) for a recce of leg 1 if anyone fancies a run out. I plan to park at Threlkeld for 0930 and head in to Keswick via Latrigg. Will be taking the parachute drop off Blencathra then heading back up Doddick and down Halls Fell (if its dry). Depending on time may also do an out and back on Clough Head to finish
I'm recceing on the 23rd & 24th May. On the 23rd thinking of doing the back half of leg 3 from Seathwaite up to Bowfell and round to Wasdale then back to Seathwaite via Styhead pass. On the 24th leg 5 from Keswick via Cat bells and back to Keswick. Let me know if you'd be able to make one in
