I went round a brackeny dozen yesterday in 7.30. that included a lengthy stop sheltering from a heavy shower on the climb to Kinderlow end. The descent and climb between the two trigs was hard going but pleased with the time. Strava had me moving for 6.30.
good conditions, cool wind with cloud cover, dry underfoot and plenty of water in the streams.
First time round in 4 years...

Well Done Ian!
rather you than me though - don't think I would ever attempt it with the bracken up!

As part of my BG training I started to reccie it in the Autumn of 2014 and some of it was a nightmare, especially the river Kinder, Blackden Brook and Jaggers Clough. I completed it successfully four times in the early spring of 2015 and it was orders of magnitude easier.

I went around today in 5:46 (inc. a 3min stop for a coke at Edale) as part of OMM training (so with a pack) starting at Snake Inn footbridge.
Nice day out, perfect running conditions, and legs got going for the last 6 on the eastern edge, although the climb out of the river Kinder is still a bastard. Bracken not as bad as last time I did it (6:23), and picked some better lines.
Slightly furious that my Garmin decided to delete it before I could upload. Sometimes I think it just likes to spite me.

I thought it was you.
Yesterday morning whilst passing the Snake Inn on my way to Nine Edges Endurance, I did a 'double-take' and thought to myself, "if that's not Nic Barber heading for the hills he's got a doppelganger".
-
haha, I might have seen you at the 9edges - I got on the startlist on Tuesday but decided to decline it as 2.5h or so isn't long enough for what I need at the moment!
I also saw Nicky Spinks at Snake Inn at 8:15 - bit early for the great Kinder Barrel challenge I thought!
How did you find it Dazzler, Want to do it at some point but looks very very traily.
-
well quite, i thought that too...

Nic
I've done a race report for Nine Edges.
Good luck with the OMM.

Tried this last week. Suits my style - not much actual running! Very windy day, but otherwise nice conditions. Just over 7hrs of heather bashing. Awesome.

Can someone confirm the grid reference for 'stream/fence' Blackden Brook?
Is it actually 128890 and not 129890? The latter seems to be in the middle of a field, whereas the former feels like the obvious spot when you're there.
Please excuse my pedantry : )

Thanks
(By the way, conditions for an attempt are probably about as good as they get at the moment? Short grass/heather and no bracken. It doesn't even seem very wet).
