Too much choice

I was asked the question today by a newcomer to our sport

Which Innov8 shoe should i buy

Now my answer was
Err they have about 31 different type of shoe so i dont know?

The lady in question said how do you know which one to go for ?

This got me thinking about choice
Now personally i use the 270mudclaws for pure fell running and ive just ordered a pair of F lites for drier conditions.

But ive paid a fair bit more than last time

Is it me or have Innov 8s gone up quite a bit more than other brands.
Ive also ordered the new talons which ive been charged £ 75

Not sure what they wil be like but the best tip i gave to the lady was once you find what you like buy 8 pairs and stick with them.


How many people chop and change just for the sake of it.

Well ive not been in the sport long enough, or been able to get enough miles in to warrant buying another pair.

Ive got the talons and i utterly love them....light as a feather, grip like mad, comfy, never had a blister and cannot think of a single thing that they've lacked.

My only worry is will they last or not? The are quite soft and seem a tad delicate and i reakon scree would destroy them.

But only time will tell. Ive done about 60 miles in them since getting them at christmas and as of yet they are still good as new.


I think once these die ill get another pair, hopefully that wont be for a while yet.

Think I'll be sticking to 330s for 'proper' fell running but always looking around for the perfect trail shoe (loving 315s at present though).

330's for training, got some 270's for racing and the 315's served me well on the Fellsman, mind you, Stolly did it in Walsh's, its not about the shoes;)
