Just wondering if anyone has a view on the most effective tick repellent? I'd probably only be using it for 1-2 weeks a year when in the northern highlands.

Clothing! Seriously, thin tights such as lightweight OMMs or 2ZUs over knee length socks with top tucked into tights results in a pretty good barrier.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, got myself some Smidge.
As much as they're uncomfortable to wear this time of year, do many people wear lycra to run in and find that they prevent ticks from latching on?
Terrified to wear shorts any longer!
Last Sunday I went from Raven Crag to Walla Scar and the paths were covered with overgrown plantation & heather and I knew I would have to check my legs for ticks. I removed 2 ticks on Sunday when got home and found another one last night. The spots where I removed the ticks from are red and a bit swollen and itchy. I still can't make it if they look like a bullseye as the outer ring is not so prominent.
Am I over thinking or should I get them looked at ?
You don't always get a bullseye.
if you get flu like symptoms go to your doctor and tell them you may have been bit, if in doubt go any way!
The odds of getting lymes is actually quite low but not worth the risk.
It's generally thought that a tick needs to be in place for 48 hours to stand a chance of picking up Lyme Disease. Mind you there's a reasonable chance that I might have it - I'm waiting on the blood test results at the mo.
I have had it over 2 days :( . Don't have flu like symptoms yet. It feels so itchy, trying not to scratch it.
