    Screwshoe

    http://www.skyrunner.com/screwshoe.htm

A friend from the US sent me this in response to me saying I was concerned about running on ice. Looks ingenious and I just wondered if anyone has tried this and if so, what's it like when you run on rocks or tarmac?

A much more comfortable option will be the OROC's
Fantastic on sheet ice, green greasy rock etc.
Available from all good running stores in 2010

surely a winter shoe should be released now, not in April??? I would have bought the heavier one now for winter training but will look at another make as i will not need a winter shoe in April

Its not a winter shoe, though I think fellrunners will see the benefit once they get round to trying them.

It was primarily designed for orienteering and was developed with our Scandanavian friends and some of the best orienteers in the World.

We have been testing them extensively as we know from experience that the main problem with dobbed soled shoes is keeping the dobs( spikes) in place
I have personally used a couple of models of the OROC's , first in the Summer on green/slimy rock to see how they would perform ( the sort of stuff you normally take a flyer off) And more recently on the ice and snow of the Lakes.
All I can say is these shoes will most definately give you an advantage in certain conditions, terrain & races.

So apologises its not available just yet but it will be worth the wait.

If someone can tell me how I can upload a photo on here I will show you the sole.

    OROC outsole.
The outer studs and heel area are Sticky rubber.
The square studs that hold the tungsten cardide dobs are Endurance rubber.
