    The Bradford 3 Peaks!!!

17 miles with 2500 feet of climbing.

Probably one of the most varied routes in the UK - everything ranging from open moor to secluded woods, river and canal paths to urban estates, not to mention the great views. Mostly off-road paths and trails. Steady pace about 3.30 - 4-00

I and a couple of mates from Idle AC will be going round it on 6th December – Sunday morning. If anyone in the area wants to try a training run-cum-challenge that’s a bit different PM me for start time and place.

Which 3 Peaks are they, then?
Are you certain it isn't the Idle Skyline, or the Full Tour of Shipley?

Starts on Idle Hill (club pavillion) across to Baildon Hill then Norr Hill via Beckfoot and back to Idle Hill via Chellowdean and Heaton Woods.

We did it this morning in 3-08 May do it again - it's less crowded than the Yorkshire 3 peaks It should make a good run for a summer evening Watch this space!!

    A good challenge!
Isn't the summit of Idle Hill at the covered reservoir though? Do you go right to the top or is the club pavilion deemed sufficient?
(I only ask in case I'm ever tempted to take on the challenge!)

You obviously know the area Tussock. Yes the club is suffcient as the trig is on private land.

The route follows the line which is the most interesting and varied rather than the most direct otherwise, as you may appreciate, it could end up getting tedious (particularly between Norr Hill and Idle). I have a tracklogs file if that is any use.

I guess you link as many bits of green as you can and try to avoid tarmac.
Thanks for the offer, but I don't yet have Tracklog capability!
Still can't help feeling that if a trig point exists, it has to be visited
One of the Wainwright tops is (or at least was) on private land...

Will have a go at the B3Ps at some future date.

In some areas it also a case of finding the bits of tarmac with the most interesting surroundings. For example it's worth going wide of the Windhill estate to take the track up Yates Flat that emerges opposite The Bold Privateer pub. But whatever ... most of the fun is in developing your own route! Good Luck

Well what a corker of a route!! Thanks a million MM for a superb morning with sunshine too! You have an absolute cracker there-trails, fells, moors, riverside paths, canal side paths, woods, country lanes..not to mention full on glaciers !! Am absolutely knackered now but pleasantly so! And also thanks to Sean, Jamie, Phil and Cooper, particularly Cooper for providing many laughs when he got stuck in the stone stiles and pinched the fishermans pack-up!! Great run-even better company! Now, if i could just do THAT time in the Dales 3 Peaks.......
