It was a cracker! Especially early on when the sun was shining full pelt! I thought the ground was good - the bogs were generally quite firm and made easier to run on because the ground was so frozen. Only managed 2 cups of tea en route this week - but cant complain really!

You lucky people you. I was with you in spirit. It was my first absence in 11 years. Do you have anything to report Purpleplodder? Did anyone take any pictures?

Erm, missed the start by a couple of mins due to loo queue
Finally pulled through to catch the leaders by Winter Hill CP.
Persistently kept trying to get away and persistently kept taking bum route choices
A nice chap called Roger followed me to Darwen tower where I took yet another duff turn and he eventually caught me up.
He then very sportingly slowed down when I started to struggle after White Coppice and we jogged in the last few miles together. We had a hunch that Karen Nash was trying rather hard so we couldn't take it too easily though
Our time was a couple of mins over 4 hours.

There were a few pic takers on the course, though I don't know who they were...

    First LDWA event for me.
Such good value. Well organised with stacks of food en-route and at the end.
Didn't know what to expect so stuffed my rucksack with enough food and clothes to keep me going for a week.

Thought it was a bit weird that there was no official 'on your marks, get set, go' start but that just added to the laid back feel of the event.

Really looking forward to the 2 Crosses, will try and reduce the weight of the rucksack next time...although it did save me stopping at the refreshments stops.

Does anyone know if the organisers were persuaded to issue a results sheet? They did last year, which was abnormal.

    Nick

Didn't see anyone taking a list of finisher and times.
Just handed in the tally, then they took a note of the finish time on a scrap of paper before putting it onto the finishers certificate.

    Yes

Not sure that they did much re timing which was several minutes out. They do the day as a LDWA rather than a race so I guess that is up to them.Given how many run it perhaps results would be nice- I was pleased to beat last years time and we had some low key club rivalry on the day

My bag's all packed, the pasta's eaten and there's a good weather forecast. Alarm set for 5:45. Just the wine to go then...
