I'll back Sarah's view - Roclite 315's are excellent for most runs. As gucci says, don't expect comfort from Walshes, but the grip is awesome. I find my feet (particularly insteps) get hammered to bits if I have to run on stony ground in Walshes (this probably makes me a big wuss), but if you're only on the untracked fells, they're great.
After experimenting with both, I'm leaning towards Inov8, but I can see why folk like Walshes. They seem to be better-built too.
I love my Mudclaw 270s, but I've noticed how much the tread has worn on the central studs.
I was looking at some new ones in the shop the other day, and I realised that at least 50% of each of the main studs has worn away.
I only wear them for racing, and I've only done about 200 miles in them. Most of Dartmoor is less rocky than the Lake District, and FWIW I reckon the damage has been mostly done in just two races - the road/path/summit sections of the Anniversary Waltz and Borrowdale.
Having said that, I haven't noticed any significant decrease in grip, and the front/back/side studs that characterise the Mudclaws are all pretty much intact.
