    up hill running (jumping)

    Hi,

On the really steep stuff I find it easier to lift my self off the ground with my shoulders & elbows (if that makes sense)? rather than purely pushing with my feet and legs.

is this a technique anyone else uses or am I just strange?

    Craig.

it does read a little strange, I mean I've been jolting my upper body upwards at the same time as a little push with my legs. just on the really steap stair like climbs.

Levitation techniques can be really effective. I have also experimented with helium filled bum bags.

It seems to indicate a problem with your legs if it is easier. An efficient running style should have some upper body (strong upright core and moderately swinging arms) but not take the brunt.

I do have a problem with my legs...they're just not as stong and fast as I'd hoped for

Im having that issue at the moment but any ascent is good ascent as long as the technique is right so even though in training my uphill has been at a snails pace it means in races its started to mix with my usual straggly but quite fast style with a more efficient one, if you get my drift
