Well didn't get that short run yesterday a such- went to gym instead and did 20 mins cross-trainer/20 mins treadmill plus leg weights and cycling warm-up/warm-down.....BUT......have managed all of 21 mins (70% off road) today - flattish parkland and field paths.

    Yesterday:

3 miles on road to garage to pick up repaired car....lots of aches and pains (me, no the car!)
    followed by
4.5 miles over Haughmond Hill, off-road....aches and pains all gone!!
    followed by
    45 lengths in the pool

    Today:

Long Mynd Valleys recce - boy that's going to be tough. Some navigational errors today which I DON'T want to make on race day...so about 12 miles and 5000ft.
Very, VERY windy up the top.

A lumbering, toiling, traipsing, trudge through 10.5K of mud in Boggart Hole Clough. Adored every minute of it.

    Re: Todays Training

couldnt find the inspiration to do the hard road run on my own so went to the woods with the regular Saturday crew and ran 2x 5mile laps. Very very muddy made it hard to run fast but still managed best lap times since recent return to full training.

    Which was nice

12-13 miles over the Downs including three fullish ascents and two fullish decents; huge amounts of mud in a couple of places and still a fair old wind blowing. Was met by Isabel (my other half) and the kids at Ditchling Beacon with a fantastic picnic, which we ate in the car as the windows steamed up.

    Cheers - Raymond

Hope you improve soon ajohns. I managed an 18 min run today, 10 days since I bashed mine, and it went ok . Luckily just felt like a high-up bad stitch. Hope you can get a run soon.

    Re: Todays Training

Got bloody whipped in the eye by a tree branch during a cross country race yesterday. I finished the race ok, but my vision became severely hampered as the evening progressed, so much so that the missus ended up taking me to A & E at Crumpsall Hospital last night. No running for me today as my eye is streaming and really sore.
