Track last night.. 5 miles at lunch.. then 8 miles in the evening with a visit to the track.

    Felt terrible.

Did 6 x 800's.. all around 2:30.. with 400 jog recovery almost matching effort time.. 18 months ago I was holding 2:36-2:37 for them so quite surprised.. then finished with 4 x 200's with 200 jog recovery in 32 seconds.

For only the second time in history, a day has occurred when I ran further than IainR

11 miles afternoon, 4 miles in the evening. Although all those mile where junk miles, but I'm claiming my small victory regardless.:closed:

    Re: Today's Training

It was a rest day.. :-)

Plan is a 20 miler tonight.. Berlin Marathon is now just 6 weeks away so really need a good 4-5 weeks of 15-20 milers twice a week.. I find 15-16 fine.. its that extra 4 miles just psychologically hurts.. I just get bored.

Did my 20.6 miler.. 6:52 pace.. straight after work.. just a banana no water, warm night. I was foaming at the end, couldn't swallow.. felt awful but held my pace OK.. finished with a bunch of 6:40's or so.. steady 10 miles on trails tomorrow = 90 for the week and a 10k race to come Sunday.

19 miles around Castleton (mam tor via cave dale then over to ladybower reservoir via lose hill, returned via win hill and the hope valley). First decent run since my L100 attempt (had to retire at dalemain because of foot probs)
Ran surprisingly well today, think the coke and Kendal mint cake helped.

Bizarrely enough for a wannabe fellrunner, I found myself 'Parkrunning' round Walsall Arboretum this morning. 18:41. Better do some hills tomorrow...

Not so bizarre, as I've spotted some of our top fell runners as parkrun winners recently - including Ricky Lightfoot, Alistair Dunn, Danny Hope plus international mountain runners Andi Jones & Tom Adams. Oh and my training today - Bradford parkrun in 22 mins ( started doing them more regularly for 'race pace' tempo runs to build up a bit of (relative) speed which will hopefully make up for my crap descending!

10.86m and 1650ft, first day of a two and half week block where I've sod all on other than work, eat, sleep.

Well, I've got to attend the Aberfeldy marathon for work, and there's a Piano tuner coming round Saturday. Other than that it's run run run. Girlfriend is away for festival season, so I've no get out excuses.
