The 3 Shires Inn is rather quieter than last saturday!
24.22 miles with 5935ft of ascent from Peebles today. Not as many miles as I'd wanted, but it's still too warm for my liking and I was fighting a losing battle with hydration.
Which I'm now correcting.
With some Inveralmond Ossian Gold.

Just amazed.. Didn't feel confident so ignored the watch and ran off how I felt..

Steady week.. 30 miles with only one run on Friday at anything like running pace.
Took the students to Princeton Invitational XC meet yesterday, huge meet with mainly Div1 NCAA runners.
As there was an open meet I raced with them.. my legs were sore and my first mile was too quick but I finished in 29:15, 5:50 pace.. and was 260th out of around 300+ runners.
It was an incredible standard, many runners sub 5 minute mileing over the quick but undulating course, the standard in US collegiate XC racing is mind blowing. In the championship race around 30 runners went sub 5 min mileing. Ours was for alumni or D1 runners who weren't in the main team so still lots running sub 26 for 5 miles.
Great fun to do, and the students ran well despite being at the back but we wanted to show them top class running and had warned them to get dispirited and just enjoy it. Pretty scary running in a pack of 100 runners, spikes flying..
