Might be able to find some sand dunes some where. Well i suppose it builds up the leg muscles.

IanDarkPeak posted a thread about running several weeks last year on a beach whilst on his hols over summer. Helped him to strengthen up after an injury he tells me. Mind you, he was in Florida at the time....

Lovely long empty beaches and some big sand dunes around. These are great training. Steve Ovett (and many others) did a lot of beach and sand dune running to good effect. Also don't underestimate the benefit of running in the constant wind off the North Sea.

In my adolescence, at my running best and before my 20 year break I lived in the North East of England and I think running on the beach and seemingly constantly running in strong winds were important factors in what ability I had then (also lots of miles and Sunderland Harriers). Who knows where it went though?

So if anyone finds my ability lying around, it blew out sometime in 1985, please pass it on.

Sheepwash car park Osmotherley, to Carlton Bank (1st checkpoint of Lyke Wake race) and back. 12 miles.
Really didn't feel like doing anything today as been feeling a bit down lately, probably just over tired, but forced myself to get out there into the lovely sunshine

Another easy 3 on local forest tracks north of Drymen. Feeling a bit better than 2 days ago but still feeling heavey in the middle of my hamstrings by the end. Another easy jog on Sunday I think. Feeling good and enjoying being out.
