Session in the rain this evening, which was actually quite refreshing

    4 x 4mins - a double loop with around 1.20 uphill and 40 secs downhill per loop.

4 x 30 secs - extremely steep uphill, which was only just run-able.

2miles warm up and cool down!

    Re: Today's Training

Had several lazy days after a heavy month, so just had first run this week, a nice easy 4. Could feel things working out of my shins, heavy thighs and shoulders and feeling a lot better and happier for it.

Is it meant to be this hard?

AM: 7 mile lunchtime run around the canal from Hyde

PM: 2k swim session with the Esporta group

Resisted the temptation to go to the pub with the lads tonight and sat in doing some work on my foot.

    EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 40

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks. Then try 50-lb potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each sack.
