10m fairly flat on paths, tracks and roads but no fells
No country for old men.
8 miles this morning on the concrete - saw some cows in a field and a few cars.
Sunday: Epic 17.8 miler, with some nice hill work. (approx 891 metres climbed) felt very tired for the rest of the day.
Can a race count as training?
My family were all involved in the fun run at Lilleshall yesterday, organised by Newport and District Running Club, so I skipped the Wrekin race and did the "Monumental" 10k, which visited the monument and trig point on top of Lilleshall Hill in the last kilometre.
It's reassuring to find that the bit of the race where I performed best compared with those around me in the field was the hilly bit at the end - I overtook four on the way up the hill, five on the way down and two in the finishing field.
Anyway 57 minutes something for a 10k is a PR, and after 10 miles on Friday and over a moderately muddy and quite hilly (for a flat race!) course I'm pretty satisfied with the improvement.
Exe to Axe next weekend - I'm now wondering whether pre-entering that was very sensible!!!
Cheers all
Jim
First day of summer, warm balmy day in the lakes yesterday
Rain, Hail, gales, a bit of fresh snow on scafell and clag. Bloody cold at times.
wet slippy rock everywhere
From Langdale to Greenup edge then followed OCT route to finish.
20 miles, 7,000ft
Resting and drinking did me well over the weekend, flew round my loop this morning, in unfavourable conditions, and posted a time, just short of my fastest dry time
Recovery run, following yesterdays Blubberhouses Moor 25, over Baildon Moor with the missus. A nice steady 4 miles which loosened the legs nicely.
