    Re: Today's Training

All around the Wrekin - 4 and a bit miles (GPS on the phone quit when my wife rang to see where I was!!) and about 600' of ascent, including a good strong walk up to Little Hill. Average pace was around 10:45, so quite quick for me!!

Trying again to get on with my Mudclaws - got a blister on my left foot this time. The lacing seems to be absolutely critical on these - maybe a pair of two layer socks would help.

About 30 Dpers out last night over howden edge, not a cloud in the sky, and a stunning sunset, about 7 miles 1,000ft brilliant.

    What a glorious day

A variant on the Mickledon Straddle but still 13 miles and 2,000ft and all before breakfast

Lapwings and curlews were calling and Skylarks were singing, not a breath of wind and just a slight haze in the sky. I didn't see a sole until returning through Langsett woods

Today is a good day to be alive....

Had the best run of the year yet today - straight up the side of Kinder (up The Wicken, just W of Blackden Clough). Around the N edge for a bit, then across to kinder gates, quick dash over to the downfall, back across the middle to the top of Crowden Clough. Round the skyline for a snack stop on Grindsbrook knoll then back into the black stuff for a while, before the Kamikaze descent of Blackden Edge and Dean Hill.....

Only about 11 miles, but absolutely perfect weather, plenty of wildlife, streams are tasting lovely again - a whole summer like today would make me a very happy man!

Warm today, top came off after 500 yards and I had my 1st bare chested run of the year over and round Hameldon hill. Car was displayed an external temp of 15 degrees soon after lunchtime!
