Hills and Guinness!
Oh dear! Really enjoying my "long" run, tranquil trails, hazy sun, hoping for a PB - and THEN on the 8th and last mile tripped on the flat Wallside Path and BIT THE DUST! Never knew this literally happens. Came to with my front teeth embedded in the dirt. Grazed knees, forearms, upper lip, chipped front tooth. Nearly started running again in hopes of still making that PB, but sense prevailed. A bit embarrassed waiting for the bus - none of the other old ladies looked like William Brown on a bad day. But, God bless the English - everyone pretended not to notice. At home, insult to injury, wrote up my training diary and found out it was more or less a PW - just shows what a bad judge of pace I am. I blame the Spring weather.
Begin afresh, afresh, afresh.
grape juice got me again yesterday
club duathlon tonight. 6 mile bike, 3 run Pumped tyres of tt bike for first time this year and front tub split with age. So used fixed for 3rd ride ever and could only muster a 50/17, was pedalling on thin air most of the time, still pleased with my cycle time overall if a bit slower than usual and a rival beat me for the first time by 3 seconds.
Was not sure about fixed till tonight would be a great tt bike if adapted.
Cracking Club race tonight
5.2 miles 1300ft rough and fast. From Strines inn. Pushed really hard but felt good. lots of route choice. What fell running is all about.
43ish minutes I think, 23 runners
Saturday:
Short 3.75 mile / 900' "run" from end of the "back of Plynlimon" road at Llyn Nant y Moch up to summit of Banc Llechwedd-Mawr. Quite some river fording. Didn't expect two feet of fast flowing water, didn't stop to think about it so it was fine of course.
Sunday:
Early morning run along the beach then the cliffs from Ynyslas to the beautiful lonely bay at Wallog and return. 10.5 miles and 1,200' very easy at just over two hours. Really getting the hang of strong walking ascents on steeper ground. Simple really, although no-one has ever said it to me in as few words, but putting your heels down, even if you have to turn your feet sideways to do so, makes for much less strain on the calves.
Both in fabulous weather. Today it's been similar, but I went for an upper body workout and did some gardening!

Some miles to and from work yesterday. Some miles to work today
Hills start again next week
Wimped out of last night's club race and forced a three and a half mile recovery run in to loosen the legs in time for Herod Farm. Slow and poor but time to stop wallowing now...I think I also said that yesterday...
Be Humble. Sit Down.
Tonight 8.5 miles with a bunny 2.5 speed session in between.

Coniv-8 not knowingly evidenced to improve performance
went to BritMilFit sesh and was running on empty from the word go - started off with some fast running and just had nothing in the tank after 400m. Bit embarrassing when you're wearing the Green ('elite') bib.
Can only think Saturday's run in the heat really took it out of me ...
