Thread: Mizuno for trails

    Mizuno for trails

I use Mizuno Wave Harriers for off road running and I really like them.

I was thinking of buying Mizuno Wave Ascend for my long distant trail runs. No mud, no grass just soft and hard trails so grip is not really that important.

But now I see that there is a road shoe from Mizuno who looks and from reviews seems to be low to the ground (look about the same as Ascend).

Mizuno Wave Elixir, just 270g (Ascend is 330g)! Have anybody tried them and like them? Used them on trail?

I haven't used the Elixir, but have a pair of Ascends that have been great (they're what I call my "poshed up road shoe")

I noticed that Mizuno also have another offering called the Cabrakan - has anybody tried those?

Yes i saw the Cabrakan, but they are at 370 g. Says "water resistant mesh", probably means you are going to run with extra weight in your shoes (if you step in some water).

We all like our shoes light, right?!

Persan, I really like my Wave Ascends: v comfy, enough cushioning for road or mixed use, and good on 'lightweight trails'. Nice wide fit too.

I find, however, on rougher ground that with the cushioning I'm more likely to go over on an ankle - so then I wear Adidas Kanadia, which are slightly less cushioned and a bit grippier, more like Wave Harriers probably.

Oddly Wave Harriers didn't fit me well - they pinched across the forefoot.
