    Inov8's for hiking

I'd be interested in anyone's opinion on using Inov8 shoes for hiking in. I've never got on well with my North Face hiking shoes, they grip fine but are a bit uncomfortable, heavy, rubby and are starting to leak through the soles of all places .

I'd be looking at something like the Roclite 295GTX i think, cheers.

I'm going walking in a couple of weeks and will just wear my mudclaws (if wet / snowy) or new roclite 295s with waterproof socks.

Am quite tempted by some of those Roclite 370 boots though.

Roclite 315 makes a great walking shoe

I seriously wouldn't bother with GTX. Added cost and if you get water in them you can't get it out leading to horrible 'squelchy' feet

I think Zoot and DT has hit it on the head. GTX shoes forget it, pointless, Wear seal skins/ GTX socks.

I do most of my MR/ML stuff with montrails Highlanders and occasionally mudclaws, rarely put mountain boots on now.

We have some of the Inov8 boots and wear them for snow shoeing and hiking over here and so far can't fault them.

I have a pair of roclite 390gtx boots and find them light and comfy. I don't mind getting my feet wet when I'm running, but, don't like it if I'm spending a day walking.

I rate the 315s highly, and concur with Derby Tup as to the squelch-factor...they dry quickly enough, and you can take spare socks, rather than have a shoe full of water that won't drain

just bought the thinnest sealskinz socks for this purpose - I wasn't going to bother now it's spring, but it looks like it's going to be pretty cold and wet in the Lakes this weekend!

I think 315 would be better option than 305, unless you have wide feet. 315 have much tougher upper than 305 and would last much longer I suspect. 305 remind me of the Asic Gel Cumulus road shoes I had in the past

Other option might be new Walsh trail shoes. BGSec has a pair and they look decent
