will a petebland bumbag fit a bottle of lucozade init?

I have a OMM bag at the moment but it's too big for short runs.

just need somthing to hold some water & mobile in thats on the small side of things.

Yes but not very comfortably and when you open it it will fizz all over the place and you'll get sticky fingers. You might be able to fit a platypus in which will be more comfortable to carry.
Tao begets one. One begets two. Two begets all things.

Check the picture at the end of this thread to show the size compared to the OMM bag. I would go for the rock and run bag over the Pete bland one, if you have a bottle in the rock & run and tighten the compression straps it moves to the top half of the bag and evens everything out. In the Pete bland everything just sinks to the bottom and swings about

If you only want a bottle for a short run then have a look at the Hydrapak gel bottle. It is meant for carrying gels to save from opening them during a race (and very useful they are too) but I found they are ok for a small drink on a shortish run and definately fit in a Pete Bland bumbag.

I just pack out my OMM bumbag with a jacket or long-sleeved top and wedge a bottle in on top - the extra weight is good training
Scramble the rock face through the glare of morning sun — to run

agreed. I have the rock & run which is the same-ish design.

It's more stable and comfy with a platypus, and they're not dear really considering the amount of use you can get out of them.

its the big 7ltr one with bottle holder on the side.

what size platypus would fit in a petebland/rock + run/OMM 3ltr size bag?

I have squeezed in a one-litre one, full, together with minimum FRA kit requirements and a bit more. The R&R bag is 4 litre.

The good thing about them is, even if you only half-fill them you can fold out the air, like with a hot water bottle, and then you have no sloshing and you can fit it flat along the length of the bag (i.e., flat against your back).

So maybe no point in getting a 500ml one too if you're on a tight budget - but would be useful if you know there's streams en route to refill.

I've got the OMM 3 litre and both my 500ml and 1 litre platypus bottles (On ZootHornRollo's excellent recommendation) fit in fine.

Just to be clear, I don't mean Platypus as in the full 'hydration system', just the easy to fold/roll bottle with the sports cap. They flex around whatever else is in your bag, or when placed at the rear, to the shape of your back.

just got to get used in races to loosening the straps, pulling bag round, getting the bottle out and replacing it without losing half the other contents, and re-tightening - while still moving forward at a slow trot ...

I had a good few moments of temper-loss refining this technique.
