A friend has asked me what races there are in August/September around the 8 - 10 mile, nothing too demanding as he is a novice.
any suggestions would be great
thanks...
oh they must be fairly local so Peak District area would be good..

most races in Aug/Sep tend to be a bit shorter
best bet probably one of:
Wed 04 Aug - Cracken Edge 7M
Sat 07 Aug - Tegg's Nose 7M
Sat 18 Sep - Lantern Pike 5M
Sun 19 Sep - Stanage Struggle 6M
personally recommend Lantern Pike - run off Hayfield Show - relaxed atmosphere - beer tent at finish
Scramble the rock face through the glare of morning sun — to run
Thanks Daz i will pass these on .... the beer tent at the end sounds good
Stanage Struggle would get my vote. Feels like a proper fell race - up Stanage Edge, and back down. Well marshalled and supported. In Hathersage village which is easy to find in the Peak District including train station, some good outdoor shops and a couple of good cafes and pubs.
Tom.
Cracken Edge is a good race - no seriously steep stuff, get some good views, and for a good cause (mountain rescue I think)
