    Simon Armitage poetry reading

Simon Armitage is walking the Penine Way in July and is reading poetry along the way at various venues. The fell poet society has organised for Simon to read at the wonderful little village of Dufton in Cumbria on the evening of Thursday 15th July 2010. Tickets for this event are FREE, yes that’s FREE!!!!!! However, in the style of a troubadour Simon will pass around a hat at the end of the gig and the audience will put in what they think he is worth.

There are a 100 tickets which are available on a first come first served basis. We thought we would open it up to forumites in the first instance before it goes to wider publicity (the local press etc are involved).

If you are interested in attending could you please PM me with your name and e mail address. Tickets will then be reserved ready for collection on the evening. If people haven’t picked them up by 7:30pm we will assume that you are no longer attending and it could go to someone else.

It should be a great evening, a chance to hear some great poetry from one of our great national poets in a lovely venue with good company! Simon’s books will be available to purchase (and hopefully for signature) on the night.

More information about Simon’s walk can be found at :

    Book early to avoid disappointment

Are there still plans for a group run the day after? has a campsite been identified or anything like that? are these type of questions premature?

    Hi Mr Brightside

Hes knows of a good campsite so if she could post the details up here that would be great.

re the group run, i was initially very keen but if I were to do it it would have to be the thursday or very early friday morning as I need to be leaving dufton probably about 10am ish for childcare reasons, however the others might be still up for it so lets see what they say. whilst we are there it seems a shame not to run High Cup Nick as it is so beautiful. I would imagine that Stolly would be keen?

Let me know if you want a ticket by pm ing me with your name and e mail address :-) be good to see you there

Hes i have mailed you...we need to come up with some kind of web page promoting the event, i am happy to writre the blurb any chance you could lend some expertise with the look and design of it as I have never done that kind of thing before? x
