Thread: First race tomorrow!

    First race tomorrow!

I've been half interested for ages, wasn't quite sure where to start, read 'feet in the clouds' then found myself lurking on here picking up loads of advice so tomorrow I'm doing a 10.5 mile 2625 ft event here......

    http://www.slateman.co.uk/psuk/forms/psuk-fell-10.pdf

I've not run 10 miles in about 18 months, and when I walked the route it took me 3 hrs and 40 minutes so I'm not looking forward to it.

Think I've got all my kit together just need to take it steady.

    Cheers

    Julian

    Julian welcome to the forum

As you suggested start off steady and see how you go. I suspect you'll enjoy it. Good luck

Ouch! Tough isn't it!? Really enjoyed it, took me 2hrs 15mins which I was realy pleased with. Chuffed my ankle held up because I sprained it last month.
I can't run downhill for toffee, some chap made 200 yards on me from Grindslow Knoll into Edale, managed to catch him again though and then he and a few others went the wrong way, skirting Mam Tor instead of going to the summit. Pie and chips and a beer afterwards tasted good.
Its funny running through beautiful scenery, and yet hardly noticing it.

Well done Julian. I was up there myself yesterday, & must have been running most of the bit between your checkpoints 3 to 4 at around 4 - 4:30. Great weather for running wasn't it? I usually take in the scenery deliberately, taking quick glances round. It's worth it, and doesn't seem to affect my running. Mind you, once I'm on my last legs I notice nothing at all...
