    Garmin Training Centre Trouble

All of a sudden, GTC doesn't recognise my device. When I try to receive from device, it tells me:

There was a problem while communicating with your device. Please make sure it is connected to the computer [er, check], then try again.

But I can upload my stuff to Garmin Connect. Trouble is I need it first on GTC to be able to export my training history to SportTracks, to be able to correct my ascent figs.

    Anyone help?

You should be able to export direct to SportTracks from your watch. I gave up on the GTC after it corrupted my training records for the third time - it really is a piece of crap software.

Email or call Garmin Support in UK; they are really helpful but ultimately if the software doesn't work there is little they can do. http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/uk/support/

Had the same problem when I reloaded the original software onto my PC after formatting the hard drive - you'll need to make sure that the latest software update is installed as well. Worked for me!

Thanks for this guys. Will try to update GTC, if not, dig out my original disc. Might look into how I can get my data from my device straight onto SportTracks though. Sounds better than pissing about with GTC.

As the above comments say a software change can cause this plus you may have accidentally removed a component or changed the configuration such as a USB port. Reinstalling the software will usually fix the problem but dont forget to export all your history first so its safe!

I oftenly take a backup of the things I have in Training Center in order to be able to reinstall the software when I am experiencing problems like this.

I had this problem lost all my records, I had to reinstall the software on the computer then on the watch and it still didn't work.

I changed my software........... best solution.
