    27th June Road Cycling Pendle

The National Elite Road Racing Cycling Championships are being held in Barley.

The creme de la creme of British cycling will be taking part and it will be live on sky, 15 laps for the men and 8 for the women on a 7 mile circuit. All roads in the area will be closed from 7am to 7pm and there are lots of parking restrictions.

    Anyone coming over to watch?
    Anyone competing?
Don't try to get to the area for a run on pendle that day it will be impossible.

Live on Eurosport at 3.00 tomorrow. Cavendish will be up against it without any team support. Team Sky must be favourites

I saw team Sky yesterday cycling around tops of Nelson with two team GB estate cars with them.
I ran and ran until my Muscles burned and my veins pumped battery acid, ....And then i ran some more.

Great results yesterday on the cycling front, although no reporting of it!!!! Emma Pooley won the womens race after there was a bad crash which took out some of the riders on the first lap, she spoiled Nicole Cookes chance of a 10th title in a row (let me repeat that 10th title in a row, she got third).

The mens race was dominated by Sky 1,2 and 3 with Geraint Thomas taking the title and being the first rider since Sean Yates to be entering the TdF in the National Jersey.

The course was a seriously hard one, I know it from the past. Unfortunately I couldn't see any of this real sport, at least the Tour will have good coverage and we might be going to see it.

PS:-) A son of my friend was doing it, I don't know his position yet. His name is Dan Shand, for any of us Fellrunners that name will be familiar. His Dad is the one and only Kevan Shand who in his hey day was brilliant. He also organises the Blackstone Edge Race.
