The Ben Nevis Race

Had a great weekend having a go at my first Ben, a bit out of my league to be honest but so glad I got round in one piece without any major mishaps. What a great race, loved it. That climb was never ending and never have I had to concentrate so much on a descent as I did coming down, bloody hell it was tough, but dead chuffed to finish in 2hrs 37 minutes, absolutely battered but elated at the same time.
Massive thanks to organisers, marshals, helpers and anyone else involved in putting on this iconic race, top respect. Well worth the 7hr drive up from Hull.
Stayed at Fort William Backpackers Hostel and met up with some great friendly people, and special mention to a top bunch of lads (& lass) from Rossendale Harriers, I was on my tod and they made me feel more than welcome, cheers fellas.

Many thanks to everyone who offered help, sympathy and encouragement to me after my spectacular fall near to the red burn. Especially the guy who gave me his buff for a bandage, please get in touch and I'll send you a replacement.

I came in looking like an extra from a zombie film but at least managed to finish my 20th race, roll on next year!!!

Also thanks to A & E staff who stitched and glued me back together, I think they had a busy day.

I noticed a few people taking photos during the race, any idea how to get hold of any? Not sure whether they were official photographers or just clubmates taking snaps.

Was my first Ben race - Really enjoyed it.
Just out of interest, saw on Strava some sub 2hr runners using the alternative descent via loch Meall an t-Suidhe?

Just wondered if any folk on here had done that and were there any pros/cons. I am aware the top runners don't use this route but like to see what folk think?

I'm not sure that is the thoughts of some that missed the Long Mynd yesterday to stay in and enter on an equal footing as everyone else. Not quite what everyone was expecting ;-)
