Well, I've just cross checked that with snow-forecast.com site for the Nevis range (http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts...Range/6day/top) and it's looking not bad - at 1221m (top station at Nevis range) it's going to cloudy but dry with a temp of +2 degs, a 25mph NE wind and a freezing level of 1400m - which means it'll be nudging freezing on the top of the Ben before you take wind chill into account.
I'm not sure if anyone has done any analysis of winning times over the years compared to wind speed and direction, but I reckon it will be slower without being pushed up by a brisk sou-westerly.
Reckon I should pack the helly.
Took children up on saturday, was wet, quite a few runners going up n down all had walshes on. Did recce sunday morning in flyrocks, will definately be wearing mudclawsMet Graham Brooks from Lochaber AC on way up, great company and showed me the best lines, can't wait to let rip on Saturday. Hi Gang,
Check out Grifter's earlier post (#170 on page of 12) on this thread. £1 in to a kitty (held by Mrs Grifter) to guess your finishing time. Closest one to their estimate wins the pot (...and admiration of all!). Last year Stuart Hunn from Skipton guessed his time to the precise second
So if you're in Fort William in time on Friday evening...sometime between 7pm and about half 8...and near the Imperial Hotel...come on in and place your bet!
And the nice thing about it is that estimates and actuals don't get published worldwide (...erm...well, okay they do! On the Wharefdale Harriers site by the Monday evening for all to see the optimists and pessimists amongst us).
Oh and my time...well, still working on the analysis of previous years performances. I appear to have multi-variable partial differential equation to solve though which may take a little while, so for now my forum-published estimate is....
2:13 +or- 5mins (Okay, for this site only I'll guess 2:13:13)
Somewhere near Grifter (...ahead at the top behind at the bottom )
Btw, if anyone's interested in seeing an on-the-day report, we try to keep our Wharfedale harriers webmaster up to date and he gets to post text updates on the day at the time!
e.g. last year...
http://www.wharfedaleharriers.org.uk...september.html
...and this year he's got a mobile with a camera so we promised him some piccies! (Mind, just how interesting can a rain cloud look eh...!)
See yous at the Imperial or at the start gang...!
...there's a hill nearby missing its fool...
