Moelwyn exit strategy!

Anyone know the best way south off the Moelwyns to Maentwrog?
The direct line we used to take is now impossibly overgrown, so the alternatives appear to be go back and east to the dam and down to Ddualt station or the longer detour west down the ridge to the minor road and on to Maentwrog. Unless anyone with local knowledge knows any different......

Doesn't look like anyone has been up there and come back down alive for a couple of years. Those brambles are probably full of human fell runner remains

Surely someone knows the way ?
