    ay, great work

my aim is to be fit and fast enough to arrive before the queues form....failing that though a rest will do me good

been thinking that running with a shouldered bike down worst bits of Whernside may be the faster way of descending it ?

    anyone any opinions please ?

last year I nursed the bike over the rocks only to see some canny locals shooting downhill way off the main path on a hardpack trail

That is indeed good news, although I was hoping for a good excuse of a rest...

Having been up Simon's Fell on our recce a few weeks back (without the bike, before you ask) was hard enough, let alone carrying a bike... Mine weighs a ton too

Just got myself some pipelagging, to pad it out a bit, as my back has been killing me ever since I started doing this cyclocross lark... It is a spot on my trapezius muscle, caused by twisting and lifting the bike on my shoulder/back I think... The pipelagging won't stop that, but at least it will stop the bruising on my shoulder...

yes...i recall alot of discomfort and pain from the ascent of simon's fell..the memmory is burned in my pysche

this year i'll be using the fence instead of the less trodden path

I was wondering that... we used the trod, but coming back down the same way, I was thinking that going along the wall, using the fence as a handrail would possibly a better option???
