I recce'd the Fan Y Big course this afternoon - lovely - much drier than in previous years, and should be good conditions for someone to have a crack at Mark's record.
I still can't decide whether it is worth taking the shortcut across the top instead of going round the "nose" on the path...

Martin Shaw (Mynydd Du) won Pen y Fan in 34:05, with Will Horsley (NFR) not far behind... MDC took the team prize. Results and photos on the web site soon.

I wondered last year about the "shortcut", and whether or not it was actually quicker. I make it 200 m shorter, but presumably on better tracks.

Well I had a very enjoyable day at the race, as did our lass watching people come tearing past the finish line in all manor of conditions !! lol not forget seeing puppy 'meg'

Top day out. Thanks Crispin and Co. This classic race is in excellent hands! The video I have is of 1990...when Keith actually ran his fastest descent. Digital version as soon as I work out how to transfer it!

Have a very nice case of DOMS now courtesy of Andersons Drop. That plunge of the top of Pen Y Fan is still one of the best you can find....almost as good as Grassy Bank on the Ben. No, in fact I think its better. But you do pay for the privilege in pain.
Trying to remember the crawl up Corn Du but I can't. I just remember hitting the rock steps at the top. Must have entered a kharmic state!!

Wheeze Route (tm) from the summit still rules though...made up 3 places on the descent:w00t:

Erm, I have better than pics. I have the race on video, shot by Toffer on my video camera during one of his medical 'interludes'. He stationed himself half way down the drop-off from the summit and got some cool descending madness shots. Must try and dig it out.

wheeze I would be interested to see this, if you still have it? could you post up a link or email it if you have it in digital format? (sorry for thread ressurection!)

Yes, I too would be interested in Wheeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzsssss video. And his 'route' for descending.
Rather fancy seeing how quick I dare drop off the top, if my legs have recovered from the Saunders MM, and I can actually get up to the top in the first place. (As opposed to 'in first place')
