    new fell shoe advice please

I am looking to buy some new agressively soled fell shoes that are not inov's.

I have only worn mudclaws as my agressive shoe in the past so have nothing to compare them against. Looking for something that lasts longer and is more hard wearing as my issues with inov are wear rather than performance related. I also have inserts and will be looking to use these for longer distances. What do people suggest?

Walsh would be your best bet, lots of people swear by them.
Or why not take a look at Puma, New Balance they both offer a shoe that would be ideal for you.

The best advice is to go to a specialist running store that has lots of choice.

Thanks I am aware of most of the brands - I am particularly interested in what specific models of other brands general runners would suggest based on experience and use. Did you run in other brands pre inov what worked for you as an agressive shoe in challenging conditions?

Those wide black and white Walshes might be an option Paul as the insoles are removable. The normal PBs and PB Racers have insoles which are permanently attached

I'm told that these are good, based on your criteria...

But I have no personal direct experience. They look like decent lugs in the sole though. I like the idea of the in-built gaiter but I'm guessing they would be a sod to re-lace

I have a pair of these and occasionally use them to alternate from my other shoes from time to time. They feel very hard-soled for some reason, and they make my knees hurt. I think this is probably more about the shape of my feet and my running style than the shoes.

They do seem well made and the studs haven't rubbed down at all, unlike the standard Inov-8 ones that are a bit more squishy. The downside of this, is that they are like rollerskates on wet rock.

These look interesting and the skylite too but am not sure if they have an aggressive enough sole for muddy /boggy descents - anyone had experience of these. How are they on wet rock. They certainly match inov for gimmicky features in their prose but do people find they work?

In a sport that seems to take a certain degree of pride in its 'no-nonsense' culture, I am constantly intrigued by certain companies and their insistence on attempting to dazzle us with such things. All too often there is too much unnecessary 'flannel' and too little substance underpinning the actual words. I found myself not really reading the La Sportiva blurb but instead expanding the 360 degree picture and just having a good look.

The best form of advertising is word of mouth. I will be paying close attention to this thread as I'm going to be looking for something similar to what Antisocial is looking for in the near future. Unfortunately I have learnt that Inov8s just aren't suitable for me (I8I - not a criticism, I'm just not the right shape).
