It's probably about £6-7 in a taxi. I'll be walking up from Langley about 6.30 and I'm sure you'd get a lift back down to Macc after... The plan seems to be to congregate in the St. Dunstan afterwards for a pint. Everyone seems to give Leather's Smithy a wide berth.

It's a great race and VERY scenic. Now the weather's picked up a bit it should be luvverly.

Daz mate, I'll be there in Pony regalia. Beat you to last!!! I have got form you know!

Top Race, really enjoyed it, surprisingly hilly for a trail race. Thanks to all involved.

I hope lots of money was raised.

As usual, a great race and the weather stayed at 100%... didn't make the hills any easier... it's always the descent on this one where they pass me though... I just can't keep with them somehow.

Thanks to all who made it happen (esp. Peter Nolan of Macc Harriers)... it's a great race and raises funds for a cause I really value.

Good to meet up Daz... even if you beat me by a country mile.

    Be back next year

Fantastic race again (my 2nd time)
Start was a little bit TOO low-key, with everybody seeming shy of lining up at the front - bizarrely found myself in about 8th place going up the first hill (this soon changed though!)
ended up running most of the race virtually on my own, which is how I like it (miserable anti-social sod that I am)

took the path rather than the grass at the route-choice and verified that it is indeed 20-30secs slower

still managed to finish nearly 2mins quicker than last year so v.pleased

great to meet-up/chat with lantern - you really must think of trying one or two of the Hayfield Fell Races (e.g. Cracken Edge, Wormstones, Eccles Pike, Lantern Pike (they even named that one after you!))- they're not too far from you and I reckon you'd love 'em!

kgc - did you make it? what did you think?

First off, I'd just like to say it was a great race in a very picturesque place. Many thanks to the organisers - I had a great time.
I came in in just under 50 minutes. I need a bit more control in going downhill though as I nearly fell off at one point (a nice slope suddenly became steep steps, towards the end I think). I should hopefully be back next year to better my time.
Sorry I couldn't go for a drink afterwards, but I live relatively far away and wanted to get home.
I'm looking at that Tegg's Nose race I've just seen in your calendar - how does it compare?

Tegg's Nose is a different beast really, but lovely all the same.

There's some proper descending to look forward to on that one and the tarmac slog at the end seems to drag on a bit. The pace of the participants in the sheepdog trial at end will amaze you... unless you are a shepherd.... and I'm not.

If I wasn't busy I'd be there myself.

Good to see you Daz. Managed to knock a bit of time off and whilst it was hard work, it felt good. The welcoming commitee was quite a buzz... I'll have to get them to come again.
