    Re: (Macclesfield) Forest Five

There's a forum thread on Teggs Nose here....
    http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showthread.php?t=5002
Or a direct link to the website...
    http://www.mh.k313.com/mh/index.php?...d=43&Itemid=68
I'm the organiser, so if you have any questions post them in the other thread and I'll answer ASAP.

Teggs is a notch tougher than the Forest Five with more rough ground on it.

    Re: Macc Forest 5 Race

    Here's the details....

    Macclesfield Harriers and Athletic Club
INVITE YOU TO TAKE PART IN THE
    FOREST FIVE

    CHARITY RUN

ON THE PICTURESQUE TRACKS OF MACCLESFIELD FOREST
    7.30pm Wednesday July 29th 2009
    Entries on the night only
Parking and Registration from 6.00pm at

Macclesfield Forest Visitors Centre, Trentabank, nr. Langley (SJ 961712)
Under no circumstances must cars be parked anywhere near the Leathers Smithy Pub. Race parking is 600 metres beyond.
Entry is by donation to a local charity
Sorry, no prizes, we want as much as possible to go to our charity

The route is ~5.5 miles mostly on good quality forest tracks but there are some stepped boardwalks to negotiate
At one point there is a route choice; either stay on the dry firm track or to take a slightly shorter line across slippery grass (this might govern your selection of shoes)
Arrive in good time; the start is 10 minutes walk from registration.

After the race, runners and officials tend to gather in the

    St Dunstan Inn in Langley

Should I really do this so soon before Borrowdale?

It's a great run and in a good cause, and I ususally love it, but Borrowdale is a BIG 'UN and the recce the other week nearly wrecked my knees (that's what surfing off Scafell Pike on all fours does for you).

    I don't think I can resist the Forest 5...

go on, go on, go on!

you need to test out your knees/legs, so what better way than a gentle 5.5M in Macc Forest

    Re: Macc Forest 5 Race

where does the route go ? Is it just up and around the trails ? Top car park ? Chapel ? Or does it go out to Shutlingsloe ?
I'll be there and if the weather is anything like today I expect to get very muddy

basically, Ridgegate Dam - up and round the whole forest - Ridgegate Dam

most of the trails are pretty stony, so not much mud even if wet
