    Re: Bingley Show Trail Race

I entered in (I think?) April, & received my number a few days ago ('10')

Then it's a dash back to Wakefield, & straight to work (via a pre-arranged late-start)

    Bingley Show Trail Race

T'was a nasty sharp little one for the 'plodders' amongst us (ie; me!)

I was quite surprised at the low turn-out for it... only 36 started the race

Given the nice (fairly) steady run out of the park, over the footbridge, & round the Horse-boxes, I was rather hoping it'd be like that all the way to the turn-around

    How wrong can you be

Thankfully no-one tripped on the descent of Altar Lane, as that'd be an horrific gravel-rash.

The winners time was 16:48 (Gareth Hird; 'Wharfedale')
Winning lady = Kerry Storrer 11th @ 20:29 ('Barnsley AC')

Results are to be found in here; http://www.bingleyharriers.org.uk/fo....php?f=4&t=727

Dave Woodhead was positioned on Altar Lane, so his photos will appear at some point

One thing that was nice was walking past the queues waiting to buy tickets at the gates, showing the race-number, & being waved through ahead of everyone
(I guess that after all, we were bascially employees of, or exhibitors at, the Show)

    Bingley Show - Cancelled

Both the Show and fell race which should have taken place on Sat. 21st July have been cancelled because the field is waterlogged.

That is such a shame :-(. I feel so sorry for the organisers of the shows and events being cancelled due to our over enthusiastic British weather at the moment. Must make them want to cry.

Well that's one less option for next w/e!

Ditto what RTS says. Having just seen the forecast for later this week there is more torrential rain forecast for the area tomorrow/Wednesday:thunbdown:

    What a damned shame!!

That was a lovely little show & race.

For some perverse reason I always enjoyed the ascent more than the descent - perhaps it was the thought of tripping up coming back down Altar Lane, & the ensuing gravel rash?!

I used to ride the 'cross in Myrtle park too, but even though I've still got a cross-bike, I've not raced for about 3 years (usually day after 'Harriers v Cyclists')
