    Training Runs

Does anybody know any decent easy-ish training runs in the Yorkshire Dales or in the Lake District, Cheers.

I should think there are a few.

Any specific areas, distances, types of runs you're looking for?

Have a good nosey at Stolly's Adventures, Richard - I'm sure he won't mind me saying but some of the runs on there can be described as easy-ish - for example Settle Loop.

As Noel says depends what and where more precisely you are looking.

Richard I have loads of routes starting from all over the place covering oooh... about 500 square miles in the south and south western yorkshire dales - think Beamsley Beacon and Bolton Abbey in the east all the way to Gragoreth and Kingsdale in the west above the line of the A59/A65 to a roughish line between Dent and Cray/Buckden in the north. I live in Settle which must be the nearest bit of the dales to you in Nelson.

Running in the dales could be described as easyish in that most of the hills are 'relatively' run uppable but, that said, I sometimes find 'runs' in the lakes 'relatively' easy as most of the fellsides there are far too steep to contemplate running up at all. All the same a 10 mile ruin in the lakes might be the equivalent of a 12 or 13 mile run in the dales from a time and effort point of view. What sort of distance and climb are you thinking of?

By the way southernsoftie is worth contacting too - he lives in Nelson (or did last time I looked) and has a zillion training routes over Pendle alone, a hill not too disimilar in shape and size to many of those in the dales.
