    Gadzooks! I'm officially old.

    Just learnt I 'm about to be a grandfather. :w00t: How did that happen? Here's me thinking I'm well cool.

    When I was a nipper, grandfathers were:

    Born while Victoria was still on the throne.
    Wore a dark wescot with a fob watch on a chain and a pair of britches.
    5' 2" tall and called Emmanuel.
    Had a scrub up in a tin bath in front of the fire on a Saturday night.
    Gave you 'half a dollar' for your birthday ( that's when we had 4 dollars to the pound).
    Plunged a hot poker into a glass of Guinness to 'get some iron in me'.
    Had 14 children and didn't own a car.
    Went to 'pit with a snap tin, a bottle of cold tea and some snuff.

    Likewise, congratulations BL, I'm sure your grandson/daughter will have very different views of Grandads! All the same, good reminder not to waste any time...

    As this appears to be the official FRA Grandfathers thread, I am delighted to announce that I obtained the right to apply the prefix "Grand..." last Tuesday evening, when The Tussockmaiden (an occasional Fell Pony herself) gave birth to Elsie Madeleine, 7lbs 6oz.
    I am currently using the name 'Old Grey Tussockbeard'.
