    Is Anyone On Here A Member Of

    http://www.ackworthroadrunnersandac.co.uk/
    (or know any 'insiders' there?)

    I got an invitation to join them on some training runs, after speaking to their trio of runners at the final 'Trunce'.

    I've been out with them on 3 occasions now, & they seem a good bunch, with some good runners (one 'clocked' a 1.33:38, & 1025th overall in the 'Great North Run')

    I've still not decided whether to join or not, as I do like to run in my Cycling club colours, as it;
    1 - causes confusion at local races, as to whether it's a new running club the questioner doesn't know about

    2 - annoys some of the local runners that a cyclist can beat them. Sorry!

    3 - also annoys a couple of our (more traditional) members:sneaky:

    There's also 'Wakefield Harriers', who have far better training facilities, but do seem to be (bar a few members) predominantly a road/track club (with some Javelin/Discus/Shot-Putters members too)
    http://www.wakefield-harriers.co.uk/

    Heck!, at times I've even considered joining;

    'Pontefract Athletics Club' (I see two of their girls out some afternoons, when I'm running home after work)
    http://www.pontefractathleticsclub.webeden.co.uk/

    'Rothwell Harriers' (another fairly local club, & I know a couple of members)
    http://www.rothwellharriers.org.uk/

    'Rodillian Runners' (used to live in a house that backed onto the ground where their club-house is)
    http://www.rodillianrunners.co.uk/

    Once, I even considered Bingley Harriers, hoping a bit of the Alistair Brownlee/Rob Jebb 'magic' would rub off!!

    'The running club with a drinking problem' or is it 'The drinking club with a running problem'?
    I seem to forget which!

    you are always welcome to come for a run with Bingley harries to try us out,
    tuesdays are speed sessons at 7,thursdays pack runs of different standards at 7.30,
    train from bfd and bingley rugby club.nice pint afterwards.
    plus the odd pub run.
    you dont have to join the club runs as many live away and meet each other at the various races and relays.
    we are currently developing the youths/senior/ladies and vets section to a higher standard,
    in training,socially and quality wise.
    so now is the time to get on board.
    details here

    or pm me for any questions or queries.
    plus you could go to dads or your kids for tea

    I know of your club, a friend keeps trying to persuade me to enter your 'Man v Bike' race, but usually tells me too late & I'm working.

    (he rides, & is usually quite highly placed)

    Thanks Dylan

    It's just the travelling that's the issue to join you guys, it's a heck of a drag up from Wakefield (via Gildersome, Tong, Bradford & Shipley)

    I know the 'out of area' isn't an issue, as I've asked before

    The main reason I considered 'B-H', was because I've done a couple of the Harriers events & really enjoyed them;
    - The 'Harriers verses Cyclists' (rode 2007/2008, & run it in 2009. Think I'll be running again this year)
    - 'The Bingley Show Trail-Race' (ran in 2009, but couldn't make it there in time this year)

    You appear to be making the same mistake that a lot of people make

    I'm not that Richard, & no relation either (different spelling too)

    However, I do know Richard, Robert, Nora & Phil quite well.
    Sadly, the last time I saw them to chat with was after Februarys 'Ilkley Moor Fell-Race' (Rich, Rob & Phil all ran it)

    It used to happen a lot when I was MTB racing back in the 90's, especially as I had a Pace Research RC100 at the time Richard was riding for Adrian (Carter; the co-owner of Pace)

    The attachment should show a young Richard & myself at the St Ives Estate in the early-mid-90's, at a NEMBA(??) event
    Christ!!, don't I look podgy there!

    Yep, I think Rob runs for 'Bradford Triathlon Club'(?), not sure about Richard, or Phil???

    Perhaps as 'private members'??
    I recall the brothers did well at the 'Ilkley Moor Fell-Race', finishing just short of 10 minutes in front of me (they were both changed, but still sweating when I crossed the line)

    Richard wasn't going too well at the 'Three-Peaks Cross', finishing in (I think?) 42nd

    Still, I should see the four of them on Sunday at Temple Newsam

    Re: Is Anyone On Here A Membe

    I did 'the deed' on Thursday night after the club-run, & paid my money for the membership card & vests.

    Now, I'll wait a couple of weeks for my membership card (& UKA card??, I guess that's a separate one?)
